The platforms your customers are already asking
Reading one answer is easier than opening ten websites.
Someone needs a service like yours. They ask ChatGPT who can help, or read an AI answer at the top of Google. That answer can introduce them to a business before they have visited its website.
Your website still matters. But it is also worth knowing whether your business appears in those answers, and whether the details are right.
You know what your website says. What does the answer say about you?
Website traffic can change. Find out why.
If fewer people are visiting your site, look at what has changed. AI answers may play a part, alongside seasonality, search rankings and other factors.
Fewer visits? Take a closer look.

Still ranking, but getting fewer clicks? Google Search Console can help you spot that pattern. Compare your rankings and clicks over the same period to see what’s changed. The numbers won’t tell you whether AI is the cause, but they’ll show you where to look closer.

Now think about your own business. Are you mentioned, described correctly, or missing? Different questions can reveal different results.

AI gets your details wrong
An old service, the wrong location or a missing specialty could give someone the wrong impression.

There are two ways to act: improve the information behind AI answers, or pay to advertise in ChatGPT. SignalTo shows you what needs attention and helps you act on it.
Make your strengths easier to find
SignalTo asks AI questions a potential customer might ask. It shows whether your business appears, checks the details and suggests website updates for you to approve.
If you specialise in bookkeeping for builders, your website should explain that clearly. SignalTo helps prepare the update for your approval, so you have something useful to act on.
Clearer information can help AI understand your business. It does not control which businesses an assistant names.Put your message in a ChatGPT ad
Use what you learn about your business and its customers to plan an ad, prepare the message and manage the campaign in SignalTo.
An ad could introduce your bookkeeping service to potential customers and take interested people to a page explaining how you help. Track enquiries and spending to judge whether it is working.
Ad spend is separate from your membership. Availability depends on your account and market. An ad does not buy a mention in the answer itself. The same insight can help both. A question about bookkeeping for builders can guide a more useful service page and an ad about that service. Check changes in AI answers and results from ads separately, then decide where to focus next.
The questions we test help us explore opportunities. They do not tell us how many people ask them or guarantee where an ad will appear.

What could new customers mean to you?
What could customers who discover you in AI answers be worth? Choose your business type and a monthly goal below. This explores customer value; it does not predict how many people will find you.
Editable starting example, not an industry average. Use your own prices and include any repeat purchases in the first year.
12 months of bookkeeping, tax filing and tax advice for one small-business client. You can change this amount.
total first-year customer revenue
new customers gained over a year
Revenue before expenses. Customers join throughout the year; this counts each customer’s first 12 months, not the money you’ll receive in one calendar year.
About these starting examples
Accounting and bookkeeping both cover a full year for one small-business client. The starting amounts use Bench’s published annual plans, checked 23 September 2026: $3,830 for bookkeeping and $6,230 for bookkeeping plus tax filing and advice. Both use annual-payment pricing from the same provider. These are US-dollar reference prices, not industry averages; adjust the amounts to your own fees. The accounting option represents the combined service, not tax filing alone.
The other amounts are illustrative scenarios informed by pricing examples from different markets, not comparable industry benchmarks or converted local prices. Every scenario covers a customer’s first 12 months. For a one-off job, it assumes that customer buys once; recurring-service examples include repeat spending. Replace the amount with your own prices and expected repeat business.
Customers gained over a year = monthly goal × 12. Combined customer value = customers gained × spend over each customer’s first 12 months. Revenue is not profit.
What would you spend to win a customer?
With ads, you pay for a sponsored placement. That is separate from being mentioned in an AI answer. Explore what you’d be willing to spend to get a customer, based on what that customer could be worth. For real numbers from our own campaigns, read what our founder learned spending A$640 on ChatGPT ads.

Choose your spending limit
Use your customer’s expected spending to choose an amount you’d be willing to pay to win them. Leave room for the cost of doing the work and your profit.
Customer value is shared with the calculator above. Change it in either place and both update.
